Island Wide Hunting Derby

Ginen i Halom Tåno' — Island-Wide Hunting Derby May 9, 2026 | Island-wide, Guam

Join Guåhan Sustainable Culture for our Island-Wide Hunting Derby, the culminating event of our year-long wild food harvesting initiative. Teams of 4–5 hunters will compete island-wide to harvest feral wild pigs — directly addressing Guam's invasive species population while returning locally harvested meat to families and communities across our island.

Harvested meat will be distributed to the community at our May Harvest celebration on May 15 at the GSC Food Resiliency Hub in Yoña, where local chefs will showcase CHamoru-inspired dishes using local produce and wild game.

This event is presented in partnership with the Guam Department of Agriculture Division of Aquatic and Wildlife Resources (DAWR), made possible with support from the First Nations Development Institute.

Whether you're interested in small-scale backyard aquaculture or considering a larger commercial operation, participants will learn about system components, installation and operation procedures, and take an on-site tour of the active IMTRAS system where you can observe the cultured species, examine components, and engage with researchers about costs, challenges, and opportunities.
