Since October, the Ginen i Halom Tåno' program has trained 32 hunters in safety and ethics, paired 19 of them with 9 volunteer mentors for guided hunts, and harvested over 700 lbs of wild pig - turning Guam's invasive feral pig problem into a source of food security and a living connection to CHamoru tradition.
With support from First Nations Development Institute and the Guam Department of Agriculture (DAWR), Guåhan Sustainable Culture has launched Ginen I Halom Tåno', training 20 beginner and youth hunters to address feral pigs threatening agriculture across Guåhan.
