Local Abundance at the 2025 Holiday HYMarket
Whether its the food we consume or the things we buy, what we do with our dollars can say a lot about our values. For GSC supporting local is more than a slogan, it’s a practice, one that everyone who calls Guåhan home should engage in. In a lot of ways, each dollar spent on imports is a dollar deprived from our community. Celebrating and supporting our small local businesses, on the other hand, helps circulates more wealth within our community, helping us all to prosper together. As we gather with loved ones this holiday season and share gifts of love and appreciation, I hope each of us can be more intentional about making local a bigger part of our diets and our budgets.
In this spirit of supporting local, GSC hosted the 2025 Holiday HYMarket in collaboration with Hyatt Regency Guam. Over 50 local farmers, makers, and artists joined us as vendors, and hundreds of community members came out to celebrate and support local businesses. From locally crafted jewelry and handmade soaps to bundles of donne’ and tictures of åmot, the wealth, talent, and abundance of our vendors was on full display. The nenis in attendance had a great time coloring at our activity table, and enthusiastically went around completing their passports for a chance to win raffle prizes donated by our generous vendors. It was truly one of those evenings that makes one thankful and proud to belong to Guåhan.
We give thanks and appreciation to the Hyatt team, all our vendors, and each community member who came together to make the Holiday HYMarket a tremendous success. We’ll see you again in 2026 for the Mes CHamoru HYMarket!
