GSC Summer Program

Guåhan Sustainable Culture seeks motivated high school juniors and seniors for our paid internship program focused on CHamoru culinary heritage and sustainable food systems. From May-December 2025, interns will earn a stipend while gaining leadership experience, documenting traditional recipes with CHamoru elders, and facilitating youth activities. Work at our Food Resiliency Hub and partner schools with flexible schedules during summer (20-30 hours/week) and after-school periods (6-12 hours/week). No prior experience required—applications due May 16, 2025.

Interns will:

  • Support cooking demonstrations and hands-on food preparation using traditional CHamoru ingredients and recipes

  • Learn about traditional farming methods and help maintain our community garden with participants

  • Document traditional recipes and cooking techniques while assisting participants in creating a community cookbook

  • Gain leadership experience through mentoring middle school students in cultural and culinary activities

This is a paid internship position (30 hours per pay period). While we understand summer schedules can be busy, consistency in attendance helps build meaningful relationships with our participants.
